Power Engineering: From Interconnection to Issue For Construction

What is Interconnection Planning? | PSCAD PSS®E & ASPEN Simulations

Interconnection Documents

  • PE-sealed one- or three-line diagrams stamped by a licensed Professional Engineer — the utility-grade documentation your interconnection package depends on, done right the first time.
  • Site plans on the Pure Power titleblock, built from your preliminary layout (or ours, if array layout is in scope) so your submission package is clean, consistent, and review-ready.
  • The full technical information utilities require to evaluate your project, prepared so you can submit with confidence.
  • Two revisions built in at no extra charge — one on your comments, one on the utility's — so you're never nickel-and-dimed through the back-and-forth that interconnection always involves.

Interconnection Application Submission

  • We prepare and complete the full application in accordance with each utility's specific requirements — no generic templates, no guesswork about what your utility actually wants.
  • We compile and QC the entire submission package and review it for completeness before it goes out, so it isn't kicked back over a missing form or detail.
  • We submit directly to the utility by whatever method they require — mail, email, or online interconnection portal — and confirm receipt.
  • We track every interconnection fee invoice and notify you in time to pay, so a missed deadline never costs you your place in the queue.
  • We stay with the application until the utility deems it complete — monitoring portal status and resubmitting corrected materials as the utility responds.

Interconnection Modeling — PSCAD · PSS®E · ASPEN

  • PSCAD models (with or without inverter), built from your single-line diagram and the manufacturer's inverter model — delivered as a .PSC file with simulations and observations documenting exactly how the model behaves, so the utility can verify it without a second request.
  • PSS®E equivalence models plus dynamic (.dyr) files — the Siemens-format studies utilities require to confirm your project won't destabilize the grid, prepared to their submission standards.
  • ASPEN OneLiner models (.olr) at the project, equipment, or inverter level, built straight from your single-line drawing for the short-circuit and protection review utilities demand.
  • The exact studies utilities ask for, and nothing you don't need — every model is scoped to the interconnection requirement, keeping your review moving and your costs predictable.

Energy storage can be the “Swiss-army knife” of the electricity grid. Reports for more than a decade have demonstrated the value storage can provide. But now that states have moved from piloting energy storage to adopting it at scale, there is a..

Solar carports may look deceptively familiar to rooftop or ground mount projects: steel, modules, inverters, conduits. But not so fast! Treating carports that way is one of the most direct paths to rework, delays, and uncomfortable conversations..

Owners & developers want long-term performance. EPCs want to get steel in the ground and pass inspections.Between those two priorities lies the real challenge: how much of your project should be standardized, and when does customization pay off?

The 2026 edition of the National Electrical Code (NEC) introduces a wide range of updates that affect how solar PV systems are designed, installed, and inspected. While many revisions are editorial or structural, several changes have real..
